Doctors’ salaries to be raised to almost 20,000 lei

The doctors, teachers and employees of other sectors will benefit from pay raises or lump sum payments within the salary measures package “Bonus for Moldova”, Prime Minister Dorin Recean informed in a press briefing, IPN reports.

The pays of doctors, medical assistants and nurses will rise by 15%. The measure covers 48,000 persons who are remunerated from the Mandatory Health Insurance Funds and employees of hospitals that are not financed by the National Health Insurance Company, such as the Hospitals of the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Defense, the Rehabilitation and Placement Center, and also penitentiary doctors and medical examiners. The pay raise for the latter will be of 26%.

Dorin Recean said the salary of a doctor, for example, will rise from 17,244 to 19,945 lei.

Also, the teachers of all educational institutions – about 66,000 persons - will get a lump sum of 5,000 lei. Over 35,000 non-teaching staff, such as researchers and ancillary personnel, will receive a one-off payment of 3,000 lei. In total, over 100,000 persons will benefit from the bonus for education.

Premier Recean said the employees of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, police officers, border guards and carabineers will get by 5,000 lei in lump sums.

The employees of all the cultural institutions managed by the Ministry of Culture will have their average salary raised by 25%. Actors will receive by 1,500 lei more a month. The pays of film directors and other employees of the cultural sector will also be raised.

Next week, Dorin Recean will go to Parliament to present the support package and to ask to amend the state budget. The salaries are to be raised on October 1.
