The surgery undergone by the six-year-old child from Glodeni was long-lasting, but the doctors of the Municipal Clinical Hospital “Valentin Ignatenco” managed to save his fingers. The postoperative period is now very important as complications, such as thrombosis of arteries, can appear given that the child’s fingers are very thin.
Contacted by IPN for details, head of the Hospital’s Traumatology-Orthopedic Section Anatolii Curcă said it was delicate microsurgery, but both of the fingers were replanted. The child is currently in a grave, but stable state. He was placed in intensive care so as to prevent eventual serious complications.
According to the doctor, special care is needed in the postoperative period in such cases as the vessels are very thin. The first three days are decisive for preventing arterial thrombosis. The boy will remain in the hospital for 10-12 days and the recovery period will start in several weeks.
The boy was rushed to the hospital after his elder brother aged ten accidentally cut his fingers with an ax.
