The doctors of the trade union “Sanatatea” (“Health”) are in favor of holding the constitutional referendum and of direct election of the head of state, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a decision by the organization's executive office. “The executive office is convinced that the election of the President by popular vote will lead to improved governance and contribute to the promotion of human rights and fundamental freedoms, including the socioeconomic, professional and labor rights and interests of the salary earners, and of the democratic principles and social equity,” the doctors say in a statement. The doctors call on the people to exercise their right to vote and take part in the September 5 constitutional referendum.
