The doctor suspected of stamping ballots in elections instead of elderly residents of the Comrat nursing home faces a fine of up to 52,000 lei or imprisonment for up to three years, IPN reports.
According to prosecutors, in the presidential election and the referendum of October 20, the doctor contributed to the falsification of ballots, by applying the stamp and voting instead of other people.
The police found that, under the pretext of helping patients, the doctor took the stamp and applied it in favor of a particular candidate for President and for one of the options in the referendum. These facts were observed in the video images published by the Promo-LEX Association.
During the criminal investigation, the prosecutors asked for the suspension of the doctor, but the Comrat Court rejected the request.
Under the law, the crime is punishable by a fine of 32,500 to 52,500 lei, 160 to 200 hours of community service or up to 3 years in jail.
