Dmytro Kuleba on working visit to Chisinau

The Republic of Moldova supports the peace plan of Ukraine and pleads for the creation of an International Tribunal that would investigate and punish the atrocities of the Russian aggression, President Maia Sandu and Foreign Minister Nicu Popescu stated in a meeting with the Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba, who paid a working visit to Chisinau, IPN reports.

Maia Sandu reaffirmed the Republic of Moldova’s support for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Minister Nicu Popescu condemned Russia’s unprovoked and illegal military aggression against Ukraine, reiterating the Republic of Moldova’s support for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders. He underlined the importance of investigating the crimes of aggression against Ukraine and of holding those involved to account.

“From the very first day of war, the Republic of Moldova has helped its Ukrainian neighbors by supporting the refugees, ensuring supply routes to and from Ukraine and will continue to offer assistance in this regard, including by taking part in the Sodality Corridors initiative,” stated the official.

In connection with the obtaining of the EU candidate status by the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, the officials expressed their interest in closer interaction in the European integration process and at bilateral level. Nicu Popescu welcomed the efforts made by the Moldovan responsible institutions to strengthen cooperation in the field of railway infrastructure and the energy sector, including to diversify the power supply sources for Moldova with the assistance of Ukraine.
