Journalist Dmitry Chubashenko is the candidate of the Political Party “Our Party” (PPPN) for this autumn’s presidential elections. On August 31, members of the PPPN submitted the documents needed for registering the initiative group for collecting signatures in favor of the candidate to the Central Election Commission, IPN reports.
The leader of the PPPN, Mayor of Balti Renato Usatyi has told the press that initially they agreed that the party will not take part in the elections because any action related to the presidential elections so far has been illegal, according to him. However, as the people who took to the streets asked that the PPPN should become involved in these elections, they ultimately decided to run in them.
As to Dmitry Chubashenko, Renato Usatyi said that this is an honest and correct person. According to him, Chubashenko is not a party member and is a candidate for all the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. As regards the rumors that this candidate does not have experience and does not enjoy support, Usatyi said that Dmitry Chubashenko does not have experience in lying and is a worthy candidate who takes part in these elections in order to win and will thus enjoy complete support. The elections are for everyone and represent a decisive struggle against the captivity of the state and the oligarchic regime.
Dmitry Chubashenko said he accepted the proposal to run because he pursues one goal – to free the people from Plahotniuc’s regime. The first thing he will do as Head of State will be to sign a decree on the dissolution of Parliament. As a result, there will be announced early parliamentary elections and a new legislature and then a new Cabinet will be formed. These actions will ensure the normal development of the state. “I declare publicly that I will sign the decree to dissolve Parliament. A Parliament that will clean up and will build a new Moldova will be formed,” he stated.
Earlier today, a number of parties convoked their councils to decide the candidates that will run in the presidential elections and submitted the documents needed for registering initiative groups for collecting signatures in support of the candidates to the Central Election Commission. The Party of Socialists fielded Igor Dodon, the Liberal Party – Mihai Ghimpu, the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” - Andrei Nastase, the European People’s Party of Moldova – Iurie Leanca, etc. The Democratic Party is to take a relevant decision this evening.
