Dmitri Medvedev congratulates Moldova on Independence Day

The President of Russia Dmitri Medvedev sent a congratulatory message to Moldova on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the proclamation of the country’s independence, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The strengthening of Moldova’s statehood and the reform of the social and economic sectors are essential for realizing the potential of multilateral cooperation between out countries. I take this opportunity to confirm that we are for the development of partnership under the Friendship and Cooperation Treaty between Russia and Moldova. This year, it will be 10 years of the signing of the Treaty,” Dmitri Medvedev said in his message. He expressed his conviction that the inclusion of economic projects in the agenda of the Moldovan-Russian relations, such as the extension of the cultural-humanitarian relations, will contribute to the development of the relations of friendship, for the benefit of the people of the two states. The constructive cooperation at international level and the promotion of the political resolution of the Transnistrian conflict with the aim of strengthening stability and security in the region meet the objectives of the Friendship and Cooperation Treaty between Russia and Moldova, said Dmitri Medvedev. On August 27, Moldova marks 20 years of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, whereby the state announced its withdrawal from the USSR.
