Persons with disabilities exhibited their handmade works in the square of the National Palace “Nicolae Sulac” at the DizABILITY Social Economic Fest on September 15, IPN reports.
Irina Revin, president of the Association of Entrepreneurs with Disabilities, which organized the event, said this fair takes place for the first time and showcases the talents of persons with disabilities. “We want to break the stereotypes and show that we are persons who have what to say and show to society and who can actively contribute to the economic, social and political development of the country,” she stated.
According to the secretary of state at the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu, the event is designed to promote entrepreneurship among persons with disabilities and the Ministry encourages such events. The legislation concerning employment was modified and now stipulates measures that encourage the hiring of persons with disabilities. For the first time in Moldova, the companies that will create jobs for persons with disabilities will be subsidized with state budget funds.
Victoria Boțan, public relations specialist at the Association “Motivație”, said the people who presented their works at the fair deserve to be promoted. The number of employers ready to hire persons with disabilities increases and the authorities should encourage these further.
Adriana Luca exhibited her paintings. The young woman said she decided to take part in the event because this promotes cultural diplomacy and talents.
Tatiana Bezerdic displayed crocheted and knitted articles. The manufacturing time of an item depends on its complexity, model and form. She can make a hat during a day, but the hair ties are ready in 10-20 minutes.
Buyer Irina Hâncu has a child with disabilities. She said it is very important to support those with limited abilities so as to help them achieve results.
“They aim to promote a nice idea and all the people who want to do something good can come here,” stated visitor Olga Caraman.
The visitors of the DizABILITY Social Economic Fest can buy handmade jewels, clothes and other articles.
