The leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon polled the largest number of votes in the presidential runoff owing to the massive support of the voters in the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia and in the northern and southern districts of Moldova. In Gagauzia, over 99% of those who cast their ballots voted for the Socialist candidate, while in Taraclia over 96%, IPN reports.
The next district where Igor Dodon enjoyed massive support was Ocnita, where over 84% of those who marked their ballots voted for him. This is followed by Balti municipality and Briceni district with 77% and, respectively, 76% of the vote. Igor Dodon gathered over 70% of the vote in the districts of Edinet, Falesti, Rascani, Donduseni, and Glodeni, and more than 50% of the poll in Anenii Noi, Basarabeasca, Ungheni, Cahul, Causeni, Stefan Voda, Soroca, Drochia, Dubasari, Floresti, Leova, Rezina, Sangerei, and Soldanesti.
His opponent Maia Sandu was voted by 75% of the electors in Ialoveni district, 60% of the electors in Calarasi, Straseni, Chisinau, Criuleni, Hancesti, Nisporeni, Orhei and Telenesti, and over 50% of the voters in Cantemir and Cimislia.
