The mayors of the suburban towns and villages continued Thursday, January 4, to present development projects of the suburbs. Gratiesti village reserved for investments in 2007 only 500,000 lei from the budget totalling 3 mln 800,000 lei, says Mayor Valentina Patras. Besides repairs of roads and bridges, the village needs a sewerage system, because the waste water is flowing down the roads after an aqueduct has been built four years ago, says the mayor. Ghidighici village needs a new school, says Mayor Ion Beglet. At present, 700 pupils are studding in a structurally feeble building, which was never restored. Local authorities have reserved a plot of land of 2.5 hectare to build a new school. At the same time, last year the roads in Ghidighici were seriously damaged because of the natural calamities. As the mayor says, 5.3 million lei are needed to re-establish the road system. The budget of Ciorescu village has no leu intended for investments this year, says Mayor Boris Plesca. The local mayoralty seeks money to build gas and water pipes in a district of 300 houses, to complete the works for building the Palace of Culture. Ciorescu village needs also 900,000 lei to build an authorised landfill. The capital’s interim mayor Vasile Ursu said that this year the municipality will pay greater attention to the development of suburbs. All the necessities that are to confront with the possibilities of the municipal budget have been itemised for two days. As Ursu states, the municipality will find financial means for the projects in suburbs, including the process of implementing the budget. Head of the Municipal Council’s Committee for public affairs in suburbs and agriculture, Mihai Roscovan said that such meetings with the mayors are held each year, but to little avail, as the suburbs’ necessities are much beyond the financial possibilities of the budget. As Roscovan claims, only 10 mln lei were planned in the budget for the suburbs this year, which is 2-fold less compared to last year. Mihai Roscovan thinks the villages that participate with a share in the carrying out the projects must be stimulated. There is no such mechanism, while the money is distributed as a political marketing, without taking into account vital necessities, specified the head of the specialised Committee. At present, 35 suburbs with 18 mayoralties are part of the Chisinau municipality.
