Disseminated audio recordings suggest links between PSRM member and FSB agent. What is known about this case and what do Socialists say?

Moldovan media outlets circulated a material that was published on October 30 by a lesser-known website, EU Reporter. The material is based on a number of audio recordings that suggest possible links between Socialist MP Adrian Albu and FSB agent Yuri Gudilin. IPN presents details about this case and the Socialists’ reaction.

Details about information leak

The material contains a number of audio recordings in which the voices and identity of the interlocutors are difficult to confirm.

However, the authors of the article entitled "Kremlin's Trojan Horse on route to Moldova Presidency" suggest that the discussions involve Socialist MP Adrian Albu and Yuri Gudilin, a character known in the Moldovan political landscape since the 2020 presidential election.

Subsequently, he was included on the U.S. sanctions list, being considered an adviser to former President Igor Dodon and suspected of having links with the FSB.

The website EU Reporter, where the recordings were published, is rather obscure, with a design similar to reputable European publications, but its audience is relatively modest, with only about 100,000 single visitors per month. According to the available information, the site was registered by EU Reporter Media & Communications Ltd in Ireland, with Colin Leonard Stevens, a British citizen, and Dimitar Ivanov Yankov, a Bulgarian citizen, as directors.

PSRM reaction: "Fabricated recordings and a dirty campaign"

The PSRM reacted quickly to these revelations, describing the recordings as "fabricated" and unrelated to the party or election campaign of its presidential candidate Alexandr Stoianoglo.

"We officially declare that these so-called recordings are fabricated. These fakes have nothing to do with the PSRM, even more so with the election campaign of our presidential election candidate," reads the press release issued by the PSRM.

Furthermore, the party called upon embassies to condemn the dirty practices used in the election campaign: "We call on embassies to draw attention to the reprehensible way in which representatives of the government and their followers apply dirty campaign methods," says the press release.
