The Cabinet approved the framework regulations concerning the organization and functioning of the social service of monetary support intended for disfavored families and persons, IPN reports.

The given service is a specialized social service instituted based on the decision of the district/municipal council within the local social assistance body. The service is designed to assist the disfavored families/persons to overcome difficulties and to prevent their social exclusion and institutionalization based on the identified needs.

The beneficiaries of the service will be disfavored families/persons confirmed based on the results of the need assessment - Moldovans or foreigners specified in the law on the integration of foreigners into Moldova.

The monetary support will be of at most 6,000 lei and will be provided as a lump sum or as a monthly payment for a determined period of time, but not longer than six months.  It is intended for buying food, clothing or basic necessities, for repairing the home, for heating in winter, for purchasing furniture and other needs.

The size of the monetary support and the allocation period will be decided by the commission for the protection of persons in difficulty. The service will be implemented as of July 1, 2018 by specialists of the local social assistance services and by employees of the community social assistance service. About 14 million lei will be allocated for the purpose from the population support fund in 2018.
