After almost half a year, the discussions with the Transnistrian side were resumed within the working group on economic matters. The working group, headed by Deputy Minister of Economy Octavian Calmac, met at the OSCE office in Tiraspol, IPN reports.
The Ministry of Economy said the discussion on farmers’ access to their farmland in Dubasari district was resumed. The Transnistrian side informed that contracts were signed with the authorities of Dubasari district, which ensure farmers’ access to their farmland based in rental. According to the representatives of Transnistria, permits were issued in February for cultivating 5,000 ha of land, which is 90% of that farmland. The subject will be clarified in subsequent meetings following an exchange of data.
Another subject from the agenda of the meeting was the possibility of implementing the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement with the EU in Transnistria starting with 2016 and of intensifying the cooperation with the Transnistrian authorities so as to work out a cooperation mechanism in the area of goods certification. This mechanism will be devised in concert with experts of the working group set up at governmental level to draft a strategic document for putting the DCFTA into practice in Transnistria. The first discussions on the issue with the Transnistrian side will take place in two weeks, within a meeting that will be staged in Chisinau and will involve experts from the sanitary, veterinary and phytosanitary areas and from the external trade and customs areas.
