The Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure on June 15 staged the first meeting with representatives of the Italian company that is to repair the Hancesti – Leova – Cantermir and Soroca –Arionesti roads. The first road segment is to be repaired in two stages, first 42 km and then 41 km. The second road segment is 31 km long, IPN reports.

Minister Iurie Chirinciuc said Serenissima Costruzioni became the winner of the tender contest announced by the Ministry last September. On May 6, there were signed the contracts with this company, while on June 14 the contract with the company that will supervise the works and the observance of the contract clauses. This is also an Italian firm – IRD Engineering.

“Today we meet with representatives of the winner of the tender contest and of the firm that will supervise the works for the first time. Under the signed contracts, the works will last for two years. We want to discuss some sensitive aspects so as to avoid problems similar to those faced in the road rehabilitation process earlier,” stated the minister.

Serenissima Costruzioni president Alberto Brentegani said the company has experience in carrying out such works and worked in other countries too. Moldovan enterprises are to be engaged in some of the works. They started to deposit the materials needed for executing the works that are set to start at the end of July or the beginning of August.

The value of all the works is about €70.8 million. The money was lent by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
