According to the chief of the Local Taxes direction of the State Fiscal Inspectorate, Igor Turcanu, this has happened because it was the first year of applying the new computing method of this type of tax and tax-payers from cities and towns reported errors in the isued bills . “The software was new and some issued bills contained errors. We had to correct them. In this connection, the deadline was prolonged till August 15, as the discount was still in force. This year, we tried to avoid such a situation and we hope all the tax-payers willing to pay the tax till June 30 will get the discount,” the official said. The amount of the property tax, calculated for 2008 for citizens, is 36.2 million lei. As of June 18, the discount sum was up to 2.9 million lei. According to the Fiscal Code, the tax-payers not managing to pay in advance, till June 30, will be able to pay that tax till 15 October, but they will lose the discount. The property tax paid to local budgets by natural and legal entities was 110.9 million lei in 2007, as compared to 93.3 million in 2006. Till the end of this month, the State Fiscal Service announced all the tax-payers on the 15% discount for the immovable tax, calculated for 2008, if they pay it till June 30.
