The public institutions and social facilities will be inventoried to see if they are adapted to the needs of the persons with disabilities, IPN reports, quoting the plan of action for ensuring the disabled people’s access to social infrastructure that was approved by the Government.

The actions defined in the plan will be carried out in 2013-2014. Wheelchair access is to be provided where it is missing. The plan refers both to the buildings of central public institutions and local ones. The companies are also to comply with these rules, as provided by the Law on Entrepreneurship.

The normative documents in the field are to be harmonized.

There will be worked out the curriculum for the architecture faculties of universities so that the facilities are designed by meeting the conditions of accessibility and adjustment to the infrastructure for people with disabilities. The capacities of private individuals and legal entities authorized to design projects and examine project documentation will be strengthened.

According to the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction, the State Construction Inspectorate in 2010-2012 carried out 1,193 relevant inspections and formulated 265 prescriptions for removing the identified faults. Wheelchair access to 182 facilities was corrected or adjusted.
