The Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Dirk Schuebel supports the reform of the national public broadcaster Teleradio-Moldova (TRM). According to the European official, a series of measures have been taken so far to improve the information system, but there is yet a loot of work to do in this respect, Info-Prim Neo reports. The EU Delegation financed the setting up of a new TV studio at the national television channel Moldova 1 and will become involved in all the projects concerning the reform of the national public broadcaster. “These institutions should work based on journalism of a high quality,” Dirk Schuebel said in a news conference. He also said that the representatives of the mass media and members of different nongovernmental organizations can submit project proposals centering on issues of public interests and their coverage by the media. After they are analyzed, they may be financed by the EU Delegation to Moldova. “The media in Moldova, especially the perspective from which it is treated, is a very important aspect for us,” stated the Ambassador. The EU Delegation has recently allocated €140,000 for a training program for Moldovan journalists focusing on subjects of public interest.
