Director of Public Property Agency named
The former head of Moldova-Vin Agency Tudor Copaci was appointed as director of the Ministry of Economy's Public Property Agency, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar said the 300 companies in which the state owns holdings will be examined in the first quarter of 2010 to see what they can do about them. Some of them will be privatized, while others will be leased out. There will be also established public-private partnerships so as to stimulate their development.
“The fate of a series of companies will be decided after we carry out the study. We want them to work efficiently,” Lazar said.
He stressed he cannot say much about SA Moldtelecom yet. “You will say that it is a strong company, but the fact that the telecommunications operators do not have access to the existent infrastructure make it an impediment to the development of the telecommunications market,” Lazar said.
