Ecaterina Scoarta, head of the nursery school No.158 located in Buiucani district of Chisinau, refused to sign the resignation handed in by a female educator that was accused of hitting a child. According to the results of the investigation into this case published on the Chisinau City Hall’s official website, Ecaterina Scoarta argued that the educator is a good specialist and she is praised by the parents. A commission set up by order of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sports will further monitor the situation. The rehabilitation centre “Armonie” will investigate the case from psychological-conflictual viewpoint by asking the opinion of the child’s mother and of the children from group No. 12. Ecaterina Scoarta said that the nursery school’s administration holds meetings with members of the teaching staff and children’s parents to discuss discipline-related subjects and ethical education methods. A mother accuses the educator of hitting her four-year old boy. She says that her child several times came home with signs of physical abuse. On November 21, the woman announced a television channel, which made a report on the topic. Before this, the mother informed neither the school’s director nor the hierarchically superior bodies about the given incident. The educator denies having hit the child. She said that after supper, the children were taken to the bathroom to wash their hands. She confessed that she took the boy of his coat and upbraided him for playing with cold water and he started to cry. After being severely reprimanded, the educator tendered her resignation. Other parents said the educator is a good specialist and she should remain.
