The director of the Orhei District Hospital Elena Palanciuc was chosen director of the National Public Health Agency as a result of a contest to fill the given post, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, the contest involved two candidates. Elena Palanciuc is a Doctor of Medicine and a Master of Public Health. She graduated from the Public Administration Academy of Moldova.

The National Public Health Agency was founded in 2017 and took over the duties of the National Council for Health Assessment and Accreditation, the National Health Management Center, the Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Inspectorate, the National Public Health Center and the local Public Health Centers.
