Dumitru Munteanu was appointed as director of the National Office of Vine and Wine. The announcement was made by Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov in a news conference on December 16. The candidate was chosen at a contest that involved five persons, IPN reports.

Vasile Bumacov told the journalists that Dumitru Munteanu was selected by a commission that consisted of representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and of specialists from the private sector. Munteanu earlier held a number of managerial posts in companies working in the field. He will deal with the promotion of the Moldovan wines on foreign markets.

The minister said he expects that an aggressive campaign to promote the Moldovan wines on the EU market will be carried out under the guidance of Dumitru Munteanu.

The National Office of Vine and Wine was created by a Government decision in September.
