The principal of the kindergarten where cases of verbal abuse by educators in relation to children were reported will be punished disciplinarily. The measure is to be ordered by the Chisinau General Division of Education, Youth and Sport at the suggestion of the inter-sector working group set up to examine the situation, IPN reports.

The case caught the attention of Prime Minister Pavel Filip on June 1, after a parent made public a recording of an educator yelling at children. The Premier asked for an investigation in this regard. The working group members talked to the kindergarten’s director, to educators and parents and presented its conclusions on June 8.

As a result, cases of verbal abuse in relation to children were confirmed both by educators and by children. It was also established that the educator who yelled and her assistant tendered their resignations on May 31 this year.

As a result of the reported incident, on the instructions of the Prime Minister, the procedure for organizing the assessment of children in early education institutions was launched at national level.
