Director of Grigoriopol lyceum stopped at checkpoint in Dorotskaya

The principal of the Latin-script Lyceum “Stefan cel Mare si Sfant” situated in Grigoriopol Eleonora Cercavschi was stopped by the so-called Transnistrian customs officers at the checkpoint in Dorotskaya. Contacted by IPN, the director said that she is not allowed to cross the Nistru to Transnistria, while the license plate of the car by which she travelled was removed.

Eleonora Cercavschi told that she went to work by her daughter’s car with by which she often travelled to Transnistria and which has a Transnistrian license number. Today, February 27, the so-called customs officers stopped her at the checkpoint in Dorotskaya, arguing that the car’s license number is false.

“I travelled to Ukraine by this car two weeks ago and didn’t encounter problems. I think everything is done intentionally. The car is always parked in the courtyard and they probably did something in order to put me in such a situation,” said the director, who is firmly convinced that this incident is connected with her position at Latin-script lyceum in Grigoriopol.

Update: Eleonora Cercavschi was allowed to go home, but the car remained without the license plate as this was confiscated by the so-called Transnistrian customs officers. She said she filed a complaint and is waiting for a decision in this case. She also said that she didn’t seek help from the Moldovan constitutional authorities because the previous attempts didn’t produce results.
