Director of a market in Chisinau arrested for influence peddling

The director of a market located in Chisinau’s Telecentru sector was arrested on suspicion of influence peddling. He allegedly asked €8,000 to help a person get a job as forest guard in the forestry and hunting company of Strășeni, the National Anticorruption Center announced in a press release quoted by IPN.

According to the National Anticorruption Center, the person who wanted to become a forest guard, in 2017 went to the mayor of Căpriana village, Strășeni district, to ask for his help. The mayor told him that he has a friend who is in close relations with Moldsilva Agency decision makers.

After meeting with the intermediary - the director of the market, the denouncer says that he gave him €8,000 to influence people in charge at Moldsilva. Because he did not manage to become a forest guard, he reported the intermediary to the National Anticorruption Center.

The suspect faces a fine of from three thousand to four thousand oconventional units or prison from two to six years.
