A new professional day was instituted in Moldova – the Diplomat’s Day that will be celebrated on January 17. Such a decision was taken by the Government on December 26, IPN reports.
Foreign Minister Natalia Gherman said that January 17 is a significant day for Moldova. On this day, in 1992, Moldova submitted an application to join the UN. This fact marked the beginning of the process of strengthening and asserting Moldova as an international law subject and, consequently, led to the intensification of Moldova’s diplomatic activity.
According to Natalia Gherman, the institution of the Diplomat’s Day will contribute to increasing the visibility of the Moldovan diplomatic service’s efforts at internal level. It will also be a stimulus for the experienced diplomats to work efficiently and for the young generation to specialize in international relations.
