The best 43 athletes in Chisinau have been awarded for their performances in 2007-2008. The event took place as part of the Olympic Month, held by the National Olympic Committee and the Education, Youth and Sport General Direction from Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports. “In June we meet with our athletes to thank them for the nice results and for the act of creation in sports,” said the Direction's deputy chief Valentina Cujba. They awarded diplomas to masters and teachers of sports schools for merits in training “the future Olympic champions.” Diplomas were conferred to veterans in sports who contributed, for years, to raise “s strong generation of athletes”. The diplomas and money were awarded by Valentina Cujba and the chairman of the Moldovan Olympic Committee, Nicolae Juravschi. “We must support the new generation of athletes and to encourage them to get as many as possible nice results. In our Olympic team, 80 of athletes come from Chisinau,” Nicolae Juravschi said. The Olympic Month and the Sportsman Day have been marked in Chisinau since 1996. The event was attended by some 125 people.
