The failure of the Party of Action and Solidarity will mean the failure of the European course of the Republic of Moldova. To urgently remedy the situation, the Government should be replaced as this accumulated a lot of negative political capital, the chairman of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” Dinu Plîngău” stated in a public debate hosted by IPN News Agency. According to the political, the precarious socioeconomic situation in the country can lead to the replacement of the political regime and the stopping of all the European integration processes.
Dinu Plângău said that despite Russia’s war against Ukraine, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova are less concerned about the danger of military aggression. They are yet preoccupied with social and economic problems that are sometimes ignored by the government.
“Analyzing the last opinion polls, we see that the prices and poverty are the most serious problems encountered by the citizens. The sociological data also reveal a drastic decline of confidence in the European course, increase of trust in Vladimir Putin, the Russian Federation despite the war close to our border and the official position of the authorities of the Republic of Moldova. Based on these data, we can ascertain that we lose the media war. We lose the battle against extremely negative phenomena that happen in society and are a consequence of this war. The war can last long and its end is not yet in sight. If swift solutions to socioeconomic problems that lead to political prefiguration are not identified, the tanks do not need to enter the Republic of Moldova. The political regime can be changed. At least the last polls point to such a probability,” said Dinu Plîngău.
According to him, if the political regime in Chisinau is replaced, the European integration processes will be halted as most of the opposition leaders do not support the European aspirations.
“These are extremely serious things that will stop the process of coming closer to our European dream. Serious measures should be taken urgently so as not to lose control over the situation. The Government that accumulated a lot of negative political capital should be urgently replaced. The failure of the Party of Action and Solidarity will mean the failure of the European integration. It will be a failure that will generate a lot of disappointment and the people as a result will vote populist parties with a geopolitical orientation different from ours,” stated the politician.
He also said that to improve the situation in the country, the ruling party should be more open to the pro-European opposition parties.
“We want a political alternative to be created without the cannibalization witnessed on the political right so as to maintain the citizens’ confidence in the European course of the Republic of Moldova. Most of the political leaders who appear now are pro-Russian or have close ties with the intelligence services of the Russian Federation. The whole human capital existing in the Republic of Moldova should be used in governance, not necessarily according to political loyalty criteria as it happens now. We now see the complete failure of the justice sector reform and the stopping of the foreign financing for all kinds of public events, protests whose goal is to take over power and to diminish the Moldovan citizens’ confidence in the European course,” noted Dinu Plîngău.
The public debate entitled “The Republic of Moldova in a year of the outbreak of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine: challenges, opportunities, solutions” was the 272nd installment of IPN’s project “Developing Political Culture through Public Debates” that is supported by the Hanns Seidel Foundation.
