On the eve of the Independence Day, the members of the Dignity and Truth (DA) Platform are calling on the people to protest peacefully against the current government, which they criticized harshly, IPN reports.
Andrei Nastase, one of the leaders of the Platform, told a press conference August 27, the Independence Day, is closer to a mourning day rather than a national holiday. “The government has confiscated the independence we fought for so hard back then. We must restore the independence of the Republic of Moldova”, said Nastase.
Another leader, Valentin Dolganiuc, called the people to gather for a peaceful protest. “In 1991, we had a single goal, to free the country from the captivity of the Russian empire. On August 27, we will make ourselves heard. You'll hear us when the government leaders will lay flowers at the monument of Stefan cel Mare”, said Dolganiuc.
The DA Platform has already scheduled a meeting for September 6 in the Great National Assembly Square to “free the country from its captivity”.
