The authorities propose that all the public services should be available in a digital format. Currently, there are 44% online public services intended for entrepreneurs and 34% online services designed for the citizens, IPN reports.

The objectives of the approved document refer to the development of a robust and competitive ICT sector and to the creation of an innovative and resilient digital economy.

In a news conference centering on the issue, Mihai Lupașcu, secretary of state of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitization, spoke about the EVO mobile application that is being designed and will contain the IDs in a digital format. “We are now working on the first versions that will be tested within a limit environment. The application will become available over the next few months. For the general public, the launch will be made towards the end of the year. Initially, we will have digital identity, which is the driver’s license, the passport, the card will be available on the phone. This will enable to use these documents without carrying them on paper,” explained the official. On the country’s territory, the documents available in the EVO mobile application will have the same value as the classical papers.

The bill was drafted with the assistance of the development partners from UNDP.
