Differing opinions about statement that condemns Russia’s information attacks

There are opposing opinions as to the statement by which Parliament condemns Russia’s attacks on the national information security and its abusive interference in political activity.  Some consider the statement was written by ignoring the diplomatic language, while others say the document is excessively delicate because it was written in a strictly diplomatic language. The issue was developed in the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

Ex-MP Valentin Krylov said this statement wasn’t compiled by taking into account the diplomatic language. “We understand that the Russian Federation is a very large country that cannot be compared with the Republic of Moldova for a number of reasons. At the same time, both Moldova and Russia are members of the United Nations and, from the angle of international law, are equal partners at any talks,” he stated, adding that the meetings between Moldovan and Russian officials and the bilateral negotiations should be regular, planned and coordinated well by both of the sides.

Journalist Petru Bogatu said the statement is excessively delicate. It is written in a diplomatic language and is full of information and concrete steps. “These are not speculations or generalized things. It is about facts and actions of the Russian Federation against the Republic of Moldova, such as economic bans, harassment of Moldovan officials, money laundering and Russian propaganda,” stated the journalist.

On February 8 this year, the legislative body adopted a statement by which it condemns Russia’s attacks on the national information security and its abusive interference in internal politics.
