Experts and opinion leaders from Chisinau have contradictory opinions about the investigation of the banking frauds by the U.S. company Kroll. These expressed their opinions in the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.
Market Economy Institute director Roman Chirca considers the results of the investigation conducted by Kroll are needed for an informative purpose. “The Kroll reports will represent a source of information. There should be political will and the law enforcement bodies should intervene. The most important thing is not to allow implementing schemes to defraud the banking system,” stated Chirca.
Media analyst Cristian Tabara said the continuation of the investigation by Kroll is welcome. “It’s good for the investigations to be continued by the same company, which knows the situation, so that things are not started from zero,” he remarked.
Corneliu Ciurea, expert of the Institute for Development and Social Initiative “Viitorul”, expressed his skepticism about the end result of the investigations that will be carried out by Kroll or another company. “There were other crisis situations like the April 7, 2009 events or the accident in the Domneasca Forest. I don’t think that this time our politicians will propose clear solutions. I expect that this case will be delayed, until the people forget about it, as in other situations. The delay is the method used by our politicians to resolve crisis situations,” he stated.
Head of the Association of Sociologists and Demographers of Moldova Victor Mocanu opposed the continuation of the investigations by Kroll. “The population faces poverty, but we must pay a large sum of money to a foreign company that would conduct investigations. Why do we pay salaries to our prosecutors and those from the National Anticorruption Center then?” he asked.
