The Moldovan community in the UK proposes creating a fund for the economic and social development of the Republic of Moldova by attracting the funds of the diaspora and other investors. This and other proposals were formulated by representatives of the Moldovan community in the UK in a meeting with Minster of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Tudor Ulianovschi, who is in the UK on a working visit, IPN reports.
In a press release, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration said the members of the diaspora noted that by such a fund that will be monitored by members of Moldovan communities abroad, an efficient mechanism will be created for implementing different investment projects.
The British charity organization MAD-Aid that was founded and is led by Victoria Dunford, who settled in the UK, was given as an example. The organization contributes to improving the medical care standards and the quality of life for persons with physical disabilities who live in rural areas in Moldova and to ameliorating the conditions of teaching children with disabilities.
Tudor Ulianovschi suggested that the initiative should be discussed within the Diaspora Days that will be staged in Chisinau during August 17-19.
Asked about the organization and holding of the parliamentary elections based on the experience of the last elections, when many citizens didn’t manage to cast their ballots, the minister called on the expatriates to use the platform www.înregistrare.cec.md created by the Central Election Commission to estimate the possible number of voters.
