Diaspora communities to get grants for maintaining ties with Moldova

Ten associations of the diaspora will obtain grants for developing educational centers for Moldovan children abroad. The grants, to the value of US$3,500 each, are intended for maintaining and developing linguistic, cultural and emotional ties with the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.

Financing will be provided within the Educational Centers in the Diaspora subprogram that was resumed by the Bureau for Diaspora Relations, the Ministry of Education and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Mission in Moldova.

The grants will be provided to associations with at least one year’s experience in performing educational activities, with at least 20 direct beneficiaries, which will secure the areas needed for staging activities with children and will undertake to take part in consultations with national experts who will work out the curriculum for the Romanian language.

Applications for grants can be submitted online to www.brd.gov.md until October 14, 2016. A five-day training course will be staged for the trainers from the ten educational centers next summer.

The subprogram to support the Educational Centers in the Diaspora forms part of the Diaspora Engagement Hub program that is implemented by the Bureau for Diaspora Relations in partnership with IOM Moldova.
