Diaspora comes together for Fifth Congress in Chisinau
The Fifth Congress of the Moldovan Diaspora starts today in Chisinau. The event will be opened by the representative of the Moldovan diaspora in Russia, which is the most numerous, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The event, which is organized by the Bureau of Interethnic Relations in partnership with the International Organization for Migration's Mission to Moldova, aims to mobilize the efforts of the Government to solve the diaspora’s problems as well as to involve the diaspora in social, economic, academic, and political processes going on in the Republic of Moldova.
During the event, the participants will have the possibility to discuss the following: ways to improve the diaspora-diaspora and diaspora-homeland relations, possibilities to mobilize the diaspora associations for the social-economic development of the Republic of Moldova, opportunities to get employed and to open businesses in the country, maintain links with the scientific diaspora, promote economic links with the diaspora, and implement new projects for migrants, including for the young people who left abroad for studies.
The Congress brings together nearly 100 representatives from 25 countries. Delegates include leaders of diaspora organizations, businessmen, people of culture and arts and academic figures.
The Fifth Congress, which is a biannual event, is held in line with the 2012-2014 Action Plan on the Social and Cultural Support for the Diaspora.
