The Transnistrian leader Vadim Krasnoselsky welcomes the readiness of Poland’s OSCE Chairmanship to contribute to continuing the dialogue between Moldova and Transnistria despite the difficult situation. Even if talks in the 5+2 format cannot be called at present, the dialogue cannot be stopped and OSCE is ready to be a mediator. The statements were made after a meeting with the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Zbigniew Rau, Poland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, IPN reports.

Vadim Krasnoselsky noted that all the participants in the 5+2 format talks should guarantee the implementation of the earlier signed agreements. None of the countries should exert pressure at political, economic or other levels. “If these forms of pressure continue and the agreements signed earlier are not implemented, any other agreements and meetings will be exclusively formal. We must make effort to achieve results,” stated the Transnistrian leader.

In a news conference in Chisinau, Zbigniew Rau said a special status for Transnistria means integration into a peaceful and democratic Republic of Moldova in which the human rights are respected and civil society enjoys the privileges that are typical for a democratic state, in which the law rules. OSCE will continue to work to ensure a peaceful and sustainable solution to the Transnistrian conflict. Given the fighting in Ukraine, it is more important to use the dialogue and the confidence-building measures in the process of settling the dispute.
