Diacov about Strelet’s announcement: A mediator could help belligerent sides

“I don’t know if it’s necessary, but a mediator could help the belligerent sides in the current conditions in our country as these need re-formation or a discussion with witnesses,” the president of honor of the Democratic Party Dumitru Diacov said, commenting on Lib-Dem Valeriu Strelet’s announcement that a high-ranking negotiator from Brussels will come to Chisinau to help the political forces to come to terms. In an interview for Radio Free Europe, the Democratic MP said he does not know many details about this, but heard that someone will come to discuss with the representatives of all the parliamentary groups. He voiced hope that the discussions will be sincere, IPN reports.

As to the conditions imposed by the PLDM, Dumitru Diacov said the Lib-Dems should review the list and the tone. Everyone should make compromises and take one step backward. Asked if the PDM would accept the PLDM’s condition that Speaker Andrian Candu should be dismissed, the MP noted that it’s not the right moment to speak about dismissals now as they must sit at the negotiating table and decide how to break the deadlock as soon as possible.

The lawmaker said a Government must be invested next week at the latest and this Government will have to carry out a very serious analysis and to formulate very serious proposals for improving the situation in the economy. The coalition is obliged to provide the necessary support to the Government so that this very difficult patch could be overcome. This is the last chance for all the pro-European parties to show that they are able to do this.
