Diaconia to fundraise for graduates of residential schools
The Social Mission Diaconia has launched a fundraising campaign to support teenagers, in particular orphans, who graduated recently or will soon graduate from residential schools. The campaign themed “Donate Today for Their Tomorrow!” will be carried out between December 1 and 25.
The main goal of the campaign is to support the young orphans who are not allowed to dwell in the school’s dormitories and are offered no alternative dwelling in exchange once they have graduated from the boarding school.
At the first stage, the Mission will identify 40 graduates of boarding schools. Depending on each case, the young persons will benefit from a range of social services (the support of a social assistant, psychological counselling, legal assistance); a monthly allowance worth 30 euros; medication; identification papers. The costs of the project are expected to amount to 47,000 euros.
The Mission says any donation will be appreciated – from a box of crackers and clothes to money donations, no matter their value.
All those willing to help these disadvantaged children can contribute financially by transferring money to the Mission’s bank account: M.S. Diaconia, c/f 40246014, c/d 225110000186757, BC VictoriaBank S.A. subsidiary N3, VICBMD2X416. Donations should be made until December 25.
According to a survey by UNICEF, most of the teenagers who graduate from residential schools in Moldova become victims of criminal organisations, a burden for the society or start a street life. Only few of them manage to integrate themselves into the society.
