The instrument for monitoring the traceability of resonant cases of corruption will be placed on the Government’s website until January 15. Such a request was made by Prime Minister Ion Chicu, who noted that even if this area is within the remit of prosecutors and the National Anticorruption Center, the citizens want to know the developments in these cases, IPN reports.
“During the past few years and months, we saw on TV a series of arrests of state functionaries, prosecutors, lawyers, customs officers, police officers and employees of mayor’s offices who asked for bribe, but not much is known about the end result of these investigations. I think not even 10% of these showy cases are brought to an end. There are also tens of cases that were started artificially in order to extort money or deprive people of businesses,” Premier Chicu stated in the January 3 meeting of the Cabinet.
He also referred to the payments made for servicing the debts related to the state guarantees issued to cover the bank fraud. He noted that the legislation should be amended so that the people do not have to pay to such an extent for the crimes committed in the banking system since 2014.
