Only through efficient cooperation of the public authorities with civil society and also with representatives of the mass media can solid development of the Territorial-Administrative Unit of Gagauzia be ensured, said representatives of the public association “Choice and Alternative for Gagauzia:, which was presented on Friday.
In a press conference staged by IPN, the head of “Choice and Alternative for Gagauzia” Igor Ianac said that the situation of the citizens in Gagauzia has suddenly worsened and a number of measures are therefore required. The association’s team has already carried out an analysis of the situation and is ready to become involved in the process of developing programs aimed at improving the quality of life in the region.
For example, in the economic field, says Igor Ianac, attention should be devoted to small and medium-sized enterprises, whose development the authorities aim to support. “We believe that a constructive economic policy will allow to identify reserves for development. Also, more internal processes must be activated, based on which it will be possible to develop small and medium-sized businesses,” said the leader of the association.
In his view, the field of culture should not be ignored as this plays an essential role in economic development. “Culture, as an instrument for socioeconomic development, is not given due attention. Also, in society there is no perception of culture as a factor of socioeconomic development in Gagauzia and in the Republic of Moldova as a whole,” stated Igor Ianac.
According to him, there are public administration bodies in Gagauzia, but there is no representative office of civil society, which would be actively involved in decision-making processes. The leader of the association urged to ensure efficient communication between the public authorities and civil society, public scrutiny, participation, but also coordination.
