Developing cooperation with EU is a priority for GUAM, Iurie Leanca
Moldova’s Foreign Minister Iurie Leanca together with his counterparts from the countries that form part of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development − GUAM on September 29 signed a joint statement whereby they approved the sector cooperation plan. The meeting was held in Warsaw on the sidelines of the Eastern Partnership Summit, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The meeting of the GUAM Council of Foreign Ministers was chaired by Iurie Leanca as Moldova is holding the presidency of this body. In a communiqué, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration says the meeting centered on the cooperation between the EaP member states, the democratic development and economic cooperation.
“Moldova concentrated its efforts on developing the economic and commercial relations and the energy and transport infrastructure, combating organized crime, preventing exceptional situations, fostering such sectors as tourism and information technology. We already achieved results in some of these areas, but I’m sure that the potential of cooperation within GUAM has not been yet realized,” said Iurie Leanca.
According to him, developing the cooperation with the EU is a priority for GUAM (Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, and Moldova).
Moldova’s delegation to the Eastern Partnership Summit in Warsaw is headed by Prime Minister Vlad Filat.
