A man held at Penitentiary No. 4 in Cricova, who worked in the jail’s production area, escaped. Spokesman for the National Administration of Penitentiaries Oleg Pantea stated for IPN that the detainee got away at noon on April 8 and hadn’t been caught by the morning of April 9. Employees of the penitentiary administration system, in concert with the police, continue the special measures to identify the whereabouts of the fugitive.

The 34-year-old man is from Pleșeni village of Cantemir district. Last December, he was sentenced to six years in jail for property crimes. He served time in jail earlier too. Now he faces three more years behind bars for escape.

The man is 166-167 cm in height, is slim, has black hair cut short and blue eyes.
