The fire that happened at the shopping center situated at the intersection of the streets Ismail and Dimitrie Cantemir was put out. This affected an area of over 500 square meters of the roof and lateral wall lining.

Liliana Puscasu, press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, has told IPN that the cause of fire is not yet known and the circumstances are to be examined by specialists.

As to the fire that damaged the roof of the Zoology Institute of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, this was localized by 5pm, but wasn’t yet fully extinguished. The flames engulfed over 1,000 square meters of the roof. The firefighters are performing washing and dismantling works. The circumstances, cause and damage caused by fire are yet to be determined.

No one was hurt in the two fires that occurred at a difference of about an hour. All the vehicles of the firefighting service of Chisinau municipality were involved in the extinguishing operation at the Zoology Institute.
