Five persons, four of whom are employees of the Border Police and one is a carrier transporting passengers and parcels, were arrested as a result of searches conducted at the Sculeni border crossing point on September 3, IPN reports.

The police are investigating a number of employees of the Border Police who are suspected of asking and receiving sums varying between €50 and €700 from illegal carriers of passengers and parcels starting this spring. In exchange for the money, the border police officers favored the border crossing of motor vehicles transporting passengers and parcels without performing the required checks and without placing them in quarantine when entering the Republic of Moldova.

The Prosecutor’s Office said the investigative actions continue and details will be offered later.
