The e-Parliament system, including the e-Voting and Web Portal components, will be fully launched when the current checking and testing procedures are finished, the Parliament’s secretariat stated for IPN in a response. The time limit set last November was the end of the year.
The 110 computers needed for introducing electronic voting were supplied to the legislature. These were installed in the assembly hall and are at the testing stage. “It should be noted that as the beneficiary of the project, the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova is interested in the swift implementation of this project, according to the common objectives set in concert with the software developer “Nextsens” and project implementer UNDP,” says the response.
The system will be launched completely when the current procedures for testing the functionality of the software and for training the employees of the legislature’s Secretariat and the MPs are completed.
The electronic voting was to be implemented until the middle of 2019. An attempt to implement the system was made in 2014, but this failed due to the absence of a number of components needed for the proper functioning of the system – electronic circulation of documents and the new website of the legislature.
