Ion Ceban, Socialist councilor on the Chisinau Municipal Council, said President Igor Dodon didn’t want to reveal details about the consequences of the September 9 accident that involved the presidential column because he didn’t want to lay emphasis on his state of health. President Dodon actually suffered a backbone trauma. Both his son and his mother were also hurt and his mother already underwent the first surgery.
“We pray for the health of the presidential family that fortunately didn’t suffer casualties in that very dubious accident. Judging by images, it was rather planned than accidental and we treat it at least as a warning signal, if not as a direct attempt on the President’s life and health,” Ion Ceban wrote in a posting on Facebook.
As to the truck driver, this was admitted to the Strășeni District Hospital. The Hospital’s director Iurie Topor has told IPN that the man suffered a cranial-cerebral trauma and is in a state of shock. He received medical care and treatment and is to be soon discharged.
According to the General Police Inspectorate, two cars of the President’s official column were involved in a traffic accident on the Chișinău-Ungheni road on September 9. A truck driven by a man aged 40 tried an overtake and hit frontally the official column. The Mercedes car that belongs to the State Guard and Protection Service skidded off the road and turned upside down. Afterward the truck hit a VW Touareg car of the same column, leaving the road.
As a result of the accident, President Igor Dodon and two members of his family were taken to the hospital, as was the truck driver who is allegedly to blame for the accident. An investigation is underway.
