The month of May was cooler than in other years and the temperatures were comparable with those recorded in 1992. Contacted by IPN for a comment, Gennady Roșca, division head at the Weather Forecasts Center, said that the last month of spring during the last few years had temperatures higher than the normal values for this period. In May, the average temperatures usually vary around 25-26 degrees Celsius during the day and around 11-13 degrees Celsius at night. During the last few years, they could even rise to 30 degrees Celsius.
Even if it was cooler this May, the summer is expected to be slightly hotter than normally.
Last month, Moldova was under the influence of cyclones that generated mainly cloudy weather with atmospheric instability. There was rain, in parts with thunder and lightning. The cyclones withdrew and the approaching masses of air from the south will now bring warmer weather.
The temperatures this summer are expected to be by 1-2 degrees Celsius higher than the normal highs for the whole season. The average temperature for 24 hours will vary between 23-24 degrees Celsius. Experts forecast a shortage of precipitation.
