DescOPERA comes with three concert evenings in Butuceni

The open-air classical music festival DescOPERA reached its third edition. Those who want to take part are expected during June 15-17 to visit the national amphitheater in Butuceni where sonority is ideal for the symphonic orchestra and the voices of opera soloists. In the natural-cultural reserve Orheiul Vechi, there will be performed works by Giuseppe Verdi and Strauss, as the previous years, under the direction of Austrian conductor Friedrich Pfeiffer, IPN reports.

“We reached the third edition that has two objectives. We first of all aim to promote the classical music and talents from Moldova and to also promote the tourist attractions. The festival is held in the most picturesque place, in Butuceni, near the Raut River. The setting is really fantastic. We have a lot of offers and hope to cope with the large number of visitors,” Minister of Education, Culture and Research Monica Babuc told a news conference.

This year as well, the festival will include three concert evenings. The inaugural ceremony and the first concert evening will start with the cantata Carmina Burana performed by Tatiana Costiuc (soprano), Sorin Lupu (tenor/Romania), and Andrei Otean (baritone), accompanied by the Symphonic Orchestra of the National Philharmonic “Sergey Lunkevich” and the Academic Choir “Doina”. The public is expected to come to the Butuceni Summer Theater with a stage improvised from natural stairs.

On June 16, there will be presented Giuseppe Verdi’s four-act opera Nabucco under the direction of the special invitee from Italy Andrea Battistini. Iurie Matei will take care of the scenography. The performance will involve opera soloists, the Orchestra, Choir and Ballet of the National Opera House “Maria Biesu”.

On the third concert evening, the Symphonic Orchestra of the National Philharmonic “Sergey Lunkevich” will perform Johann Strauss’ waltzes on a stage built on the Raut. The performance will involve Tatiana Costiuc (soprano), Vitalie Cibotaru (baritone) and artists of the Symphonic Orchestra.

“All the songs were carefully chosen, taking into account the tastes of the public. It is reference music known by everyone. These are absolutely exceptional pieces accompanied by choral music. We are glad that there are lines at the ticket offices. I hope it will be nice and the people will get spiritual satisfaction,” said the director of the National Opera House “Maria Biesu”.

The guests will be able to visit sites, monasteries, Christian rock complexes and the homes of people who keep the atmosphere of the past centuries and to take part in unique cooking masterclass prepared by the hosts of the event. To ensure the convenience of visitors, transport will be provided from Chisinau to Butuceni and back. The organizers call on the visitors to make reservations at pensions beforehand. Concert ticket prices vary between 200 and 350 lei. The price for students and pensioners is 150 lei.

The event forms part of the campaign to promote Moldova as a tourist destination “Be Our Guest” and is held under the aegis of the country tourist brand “Life Tree” and the national brand “Moldova’s Wine”.
