The Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova Oleg Vasnetsov dared to attack the government in Chisinau, invoked the “centuries-old friendly relations” between the Russians and Moldovans and accused the West of trying to inflict a “strategic defeat” on Russia. This was the message the Russian ambassador delivered yesterday to the pro-Russian camp in Chisinau during a reception at the embassy on the occasion of Russia Day, IPN reports, referring to Deschide.MD.
He thanked those present for “their contribution to the development of the Russian-Moldovan relations and the strengthening of friendship ties.” Giving an interpretation of history as understood and promoted by the Russians, Vasnetsov spoke about the struggle of Moldovan rulers and Russian emperors against “common enemies”, as well as about the Russian-Moldovan relations, based on the “mutual respect” of the past.
“Systematic and unconditional Russophobia, meticulous dismantling of bilateral achievements built over many years, interruption of all cooperation directions, liquidation of independent media, search for “Kremlin collaborators” in the sociopolitical environment, anti-Russian provocations and daily insulting bravado of Chisinau dignitaries - are not our choice,” said Vasnetsov.
He attacked the government in Chisinau, insinuating that the expulsions in August 2023 of employees of the Russian Embassy were aimed at “causing the greatest damage to our historical diplomatic, cultural-humanitarian and commercial relations”.
“We know both the limited partners and the beneficiaries of this action. And these are not the Moldovan people. Proof of this is the crowd of friends who gathered at this reception dedicated to Russia Day. This means that the brotherhood of our peoples cannot be eroded even in aggressive external conditions, and we will definitely overcome this difficult period,” stressed Vasnetsov.
The Russian ambassador acclaimed Vladimir Putin thanks to whom Russia regains its rightful place among the great powers of the world, which is not suitable for the collective West led by the U.S. Thus, according to him, “the enemies of the West have started a large-scale hybrid war against Russia, cultivating a hostile regime in Kiev” for the purpose.
“But no matter how much our adversaries would like to inflict a “strategic defeat” on Russia, they will fail to achieve their goal. With the support of friends, our Motherland will overcome this confrontation even stronger and more self-confident,” the diplomat told those attending.
The quoted source reminds that MPs, politicians, activists and priests from the Metropolitan Church of Moldova, which is canonically subordinated to Moscow, on Wednesday participated in the reception on the occasion of the National Day of Russia at the Embassy of this country in Chisinau. Among the guests were representatives of the PSRM, PCRM, the former Shor Party, parties affiliated to the convicted fugitive Ilan Shor – the Revival Party and the Future of Moldova Party – and also the leadership of the Territorial-Administrative Unit of Gagauzia.
After the event, some of the guests continued the Bacchic delights in another location, where they shared their impressions about the first part of the party and the objectives set by the Russian ambassador, noted Deschide.md.
