The Republic of Moldova should ensure a free, fair and transparent electoral process where all the candidates can complete in equal conditions, without fear of harassment and intimidation and, above everything, it should make sure that the election result reflects the people’s will, U.S. Ambassador to Moldova Dereck J. Hogan stated while delivering a speech before students of the Faculty of International Relations, Political and Administrative Sciences of the State University of Moldova (USM), IPN reports.
According to a press release of the USM, the ambassador underlined the necessity of strengthening the relations of cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the U.S. by which the students, representatives of the young generation have different opportunities for distinguishing themselves and for becoming involved in initiatives, projects and programs for improving professional performance.
“This year we will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries. By training, exchange programs and investments, the United States helped the Republic of Moldova to develop its economy, civil society, to strengthen the democratic institutions and to keep the common heritage,” stated the diplomat.
According to the rector of the USM Igor Sharov, despite the difficult conditions through which the Republic of Moldova has gone, the U.S. offered assistance in ensuring medical care, preparing laboratories, accelerating the identification and monitoring of cases of COVID-19, strengthening specialists’ technical capacities to respond to challenges. The rector expressed his confidence that the MEDIACOR project that will be launched soon at the USM will become one of the central and priority objectives, offering the students opportunities for extending their relations and improving communication in education and research.
