Nicu Popescu, Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, was awarded by presidential decree with the Order of the Republic, in recognition of his professionalism.

“The distinction is offered as a sign of high appreciation of the professionalism demonstrated in the field of foreign policy, for the constant support of the European integration efforts of the Republic of Moldova, as well as for the major contribution to the opening of the accession negotiations of our country to the European Union”, the President’s Office said in a press release.

Also today, President Maia Sandu awarded the Civic Merit medal to Cristina Gherasimov, adviser on foreign policy and European integration, who on December 5 was appointed state secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.

“The medal is awarded for special merits in the promotion of foreign policy, constant support of European integration efforts and for substantial contribution to the opening of accession negotiations”, the President’s Office said.
